Chestris

Chestris is a free-to-play cross up between the popular strategy game, Chess, and the classic game, Tetris. Place your chess pieces on the board and score points by filling a complete vertical or horizontal line with pieces. Test your skill in Endless score mode, solve unique puzzles in Adventure Mode, and solve daily curated puzzles in Daily Challenge.

I am the principal engineer on Chestris. I built the game from scratch and worked with a small team of artists to flesh out the concept all the while contributing to the new in-house core codebase that would be used to build future projects.

My Responsibilities

  • Work closely with with design to flesh out the concept, solve design problems and form a plan for implementation

  • Build the foundation for the game and identify code architecture that should be part of the core codebase

  • Oversee junior developers and create tasks lists for them to work effectively as part of the team

  • Identify important analytics metrics to track to inform iteration
